It has been quite some time since we’re hearing about Moto G5 Android Oreo update, but till now it has not been rolled out by the company. However, now it seems that this roll out is not too far as Moto G5 running Android 8.1 Oreo has recently been spotted on Geekbench. The device was spotted by MySmartPrice, and it had the model number XT1670, which corresponds to Moto G5. This suggests that an update is just around the corner.
Interestingly, it’s looking that Motorola has skipped Android 8.0 and jumped straight to Android 8.1 for this device, which is the latest version of Android. The company had confirmed Moto G5 Android Oreo update a long time ago, but since then there has been no word about it and users are still stuck with Nougat. As you can expect, this has caused many of them to be disappointed and mobile forums of Motorola are flush with posts on this particular issue. Hopefully now those Moto G5 users will take a sigh of relief.
If you’ve a Moto G5 smartphone, you can check for updates by navigating to Settings >> About Phone >> Check for software updates. If an update is shown , download it. If not then wait for a few days because it may not have been rolled out till now. It’s also worth noting that updates are rolled out region-wise, so even after official roll out it may take some time to be available in your region. Be patient and keep checking periodically to get it.
