Verizon announced today that world’s first holographic smartphone, Red Hydrogen One, will be available for its subscribers later this year. The company didn’t reveal any exact release date, but now when it has confirmed the availability officially we can expect the device to hit company’s stores soon. In the meantime Verizon is allowing you to register your interest so you can be notified when RED Hydrogen One is available in Verizon Stores.
On the other hand, AT&T has also made a similar announcement to ensure that it doesn’t get left behind in the game. AT&T is also looking more serious than Verizon because it’s allowing you to try and experience the device yourselves. All you’ll have to do is that you’ll have to attend AT&T Shape event at Warner Bros – there you’ll be given the chance to experience the device yourselves.
But what’s so special with RED Hydrogen One?
At this point you may be wondering what’s the big deal with this phone. Well, this phone is special because this is world’s first smartphone with holographic capabilities. It’s said by its makers that it will provide 3D-like experiences without 3D glasses. No other smartphone has come with this functionality till date, and that’s why it was surprising when a company otherwise known for its camera business announced the development of such an advanced device instead of any other smartphone market biggies like Samsung, Apple or Google. It was initially thought that this smartphone may not ever see the light of day, but now when AT&T and Verizon have announced that it will be available in their stores things are looking much more serious than before.
The device itself is supposed to be a high-end flagship with 5.7-inch screen and Moto Z like modularity. Other features are not known yet, but hopefully we’ll hear about them soon because market availability is just around the corner.
