So finally it’s happening. After months of rumors and leaks Samsung is going to launch its second flagship of the year, namely Galaxy Note 9, on 9th of August. The invites for this Unpacked event have already been sent out by the company, and although they don’t say anything related to Note 9 the stylus shown on them and the date of launch event both suggest that it’s Galaxy Note 9 that will be launched by the company.
The announcement of Galaxy Note 9 launch was not completely unexpected — Samsung has a tradition of launching Note devices in August, so the launch is happening almost on the right time. Plus, Bloomberg had also run a report on it earlier this month. So we were not very surprised when these invites were sent out by the company.
Besides launch date the invites also reveal two more things about this upcming flagship:
- First that S-Pen is once again going to be the hallmark of Note series
- And second that this time we will also have the choice of a very yellow-looking Galaxy Note flagship.
Recently Galaxy Note 9 also appeared on FCC’s website. Though that FCC listing didn’t reveal much about the device, it’s already known from quite some time that Galaxy Note 9 will be a refreshed version of Galaxy Note 8 with better hardware in some places. No major new features (i.e. under-display fingerprint sensor, slimmer bezels etc.) are expected to be included in it as they seem to have been saved by the company for Galaxy S10. In-line with those expectations the latest rumors coming with these invites suggest that Snapdragon 845 processor and a better primary camera setup are the only major changes that we’ll see in this device. Now it will be interesting to see how company uses these two things to promote Galaxy Note 9 in market!
