The latest Samsung Galaxy S8 security update is quite special for the owners of this device. Do you know why? Well, because it includes something more than security changes alone. It enables Super Slow Motion video recording on the device (a welcome addition after a long wait), which is a pleasant surprise for the owners of company’s flagship launched last year. However, there’s a catch: the super slow motion recording of your Galaxy S8 won’t be as slow as that of Galaxy S9.
The update was pushed by the company about two days back, and its OTA size is 553.10 MB. It brings the ability to record videos at 480 frames per second (fps) for up to 0.4 seconds. In comparison, Galaxy S9 and S9+ can record videos at 960 fps for up to 0.4 seconds. So basically, the super slow motion of Galaxy S8 will be half as good as that of Galaxy S9.
In addition to Super Slow-Mo recording, this Galaxy S8 security update also brings AR emojis to Galaxy S8. It’s currently being rolled out to European Exynos based models of the device, but at least one Sprint unit in the United States has also received it so US rollout also doesn’t seem too far.
