OnePlus 5 and 5T starts receiving Android Pie update

Love is not lost for good old phones yet. At least not for those having OnePlus 5 and 5T. Normally, companies tend to forget their old flagship phones when it comes to updating them with the latest Android update. OnePlus has always been one of those who has been delivering on their promise of providing regular updates.

After weeks of beta testing for limited owners of OnePlus 5 and 5T, the Android Pie update is finally being rolled out to the general public. The changelog is particularly in line with what we have been seeing on the beta updates.

Android Pie Update Changelog for OnePlus 5 and 5T

  • Upgrade system to Android 9 Pie (Android security patch – 2018.12)
  • Brand new UI for Android Pie
  • Brand new navigation gestures (exclusive to 5T)
  • System improvements and other new features

New Gaming Mode 3.0

  • Added text notification mode
  • Added 3rd party calls notification mode

Do Not Disturb

  • New adjustable settings in the Do Not Disturb mode

  • Integrated Google Lens

Although the update has been released to the general public, the distribution will be slow. Only a small number of users will receive the update today. If everything looks fine, they will start pushing the update to more users.
