Qualcomm has announced Snapdragon 855, its next-generation processor at its annual tech summit held in Maui. There aren’t specific details available at this time because Qualcomm didn’t reveal those yet. But, what we do have is a comparison based on performance w.r.t the last generation processor.
According to the company, the Snapdragon 855 will have 3x better performance compared to the Snapdragon 845. They are also promising 2x better performance compared to the competitor’s chipsets (I really want to see, which competitor). The chipset will also have the world’s first computer vision ISP which will essentially be some kind of intelligent system program. It will also have 4th generation AI Engine, ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor support, elite gaming, and 5G connectivity support.
The 5G connectivity on Snapdragon could be an optional thing meaning there could be a variant of Snapdragon 855 which may not have the 5G support. So, next year when you see this processor in any phone, be sure to double check the variant. More details on this will be available tomorrow as tomorrow’s keynote will be focused on Snapdragon 855.
