Huawei announces P30 Pro with super-creepy 10x hybrid zoom

Huawei has always had clear intentions of destroying the smartphone market by focusing on the camera department. The latest P series phones i.e. Huawei P30 and P30 pro were recently announced on 26th March at an event in Paris. The P20 and P20 pro allowed Huawei to be called the ‘Camera Kings’ of the Smartphone industry since the cameras of these devices were highly appreciated in the market.


The Huawei P30 Pro is set to stage the world on fire with a highest till date score of 112 from DxOMark. The photo score was 119 and the video score was 97 which lead to an average score of 112.
On the front, the P30 pro has a 32MP front camera with AI HDR+ and the Leica Quad camera system at the back includes:

  • A 40MP main camera which comes with f1.6 aperture lens.
  • 20MP ultra-wide angle camera with f2.2 aperture.
  • 8MP telephoto camera with an f/3.4 aperture lens.
  • Time-of-Flight (TOF) camera.

The main sensor in the 40MP camera is made by Sony and it uses a new Red Yellow Blue Super Spectrum which can take in 40% more light. The 20MP camera is the main camera which enables wide-angle photography with f2.2 aperture. The 8MP secondary camera comes with ultra wide lens and 5x optical zoom coupled with the 10x hybrid zoom which functions in sync with the main sensor. The TOF camera enables the P30 Pro with a greater sense of depth.

Clearly, the camera is the attention-grabbing point of this phone but it also comes with a powerful Kirin 980 with Dual NPU SoC. The display is 6.47-inch curved OLED which is FHD+ and has a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. The P30 Pro has 8GB RAM while the storage has 3 options where the cheapest model is of 128GB storage followed by 256GB and lastly a completely spacious 512GB variant. This beast of a phone is backed by a 4,200mAh battery. Huawei is also ditching headphone jack with P30 Pro but retains it on the regular P30. It also supports 40W Huawei SuperCharge, 15W wireless quick charge, and reverse wireless charging.

While the P30 has a starting price tag of EUR 799 and the P30 Pro will be starting at EUR 999 for the 8GB RAM/ 128GB storage model. 8GB RAM/ 256GB storage variant will cost approximately $1099 EUR and 8GB RAM/ 512GB variant will be available for around EUR 1249. The phone will be available in five colors i.e., amber sunrise, pearl white, black, aurora, and crystal.
