It is not often that a smartphone company updates its three-year-old smartphone with a major Android update. However, OnePlus has always set the bar high several times in the past. One of the major appeals of this company is that it regularly updates its devices even after several years of their launch. So, when it announced that it will deliver the Android Pie update for OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones launched in 2016, people were unsurprisingly ecstatic. Now, it turns out that the company has also delivered on its promise as the Pie update for both these smartphones is being rolled out.
That’s right. The update was first promised back in July 2018 has finally started rolling out worldwide. In fact, the company started testing it out back in April 2018. It has been quite some time since then, but 9 months later, the company is finally bringing what it had promised. Oxygen OS 9.0.2, based on Android 9 Pie, is being rolled out to both OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. Here’s the full changelog –

And as always, the update is going to be rolled out in phases, so if you’ve not received it already you’ll receive it in the coming days. The tactic of using a VPN to receive the update earlier will also not work as OnePlus has specified clearly that the roll-out is not based on regions.
