If you keep an eye on our updates, you may know already that Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are going to be launched in the coming days. However, till now we didn’t know the markets where they’re going to be made available after the launch. But that’s changed now, as a teaser released by the company on an e-commerce site has revealed that India will be the first market where this device will be made available right after its launch.

Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL specs and launch details

That’s right. According to a promo teaser released by Google on e-commerce website Flipkart, “Something big is coming to the Pixel universe” on 8th of May. That’s one day after the official launch of the device at Google I/O. Based on what we’ve seen in the leaks, both Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are expected to look identical to the standard Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL devices launched last year. However, their specifications will be based on mid-range hardware as both of them are going to be mid-range smartphones.

We’re expecting Pixel 3a to come with Snapdragon 670 processor and 5.6-inches large 1,080p OLED display while its big brother is rumored to come with Snapdragon 710 and 6-inch OLED display having FHD+ resolution. Both devices will have 4GB of RAM, and will be sold in 32GB and 64GB storage options. On the photography front, both devices are rumored to come with same 12.2mp main camera that was present in Pixel 3 and 3XL.

Given the huge size of India’s smartphone market and tremendous growth potential present there it’s not very surprising that Google has chosen it as the market of choice to launch Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. There’s a very large pool of mid-range smartphone buyers in India, and by offering them a premium device with the promise of timely updates Google can win at least some share of that market. It’s also possible (and completely sensible) for the company to launch both these devices in some other markets too. We hope to hear more about all these things in the very near future, as the official launch is only a week away now. Let’s see!
