Ever since Google announced its Android ban for Huawei, there has been a question mark on whether the company’s devices will receive any updates or not. Though the ban has since been put on hold for 90 days, and though both companies confirmed that all Huawei devices will continue to receive the security updates in at least during that 90-day period, nothing was certain about the major updates. Fortunately, one major update is now being rolled out by the company for owners of its latest flagship devices.
EMUI 9.0 Update Device List
Huawei Mate 10 series, Mate 9 series, Mate 20 lite, P20 series, P10 series and Nova 3 – all are either already receiving or are about to receive the EMUI 9.0 update. In addition to that, Huawei Watch GT is also set to receive an update of watchOS that will bring the ‘Always on Display’ feature to it.
EMUI 9.0 is based on Android Pie, but it has got quite a few interesting changes that can improve your smartphone experience significantly. New Huawei Share feature, navigation gestures, SD card backups, and a password vault are few of the many features that this update brings to your Honor and Huawei devices. Full details of new features are available on official EMUI 9.0 microsite.
If you own any of the Huawei or Honor devices from the provided list, I would strongly suggest that you install this update right after its notification comes to your device. Because if things don’t work out between the US and China, this may very well be the last full update for your phone. To ensure that you install it in time.
The update for Huawei Watch GT, on the other hand, brings Always On Display, heart rate monitor improvements, a new mode that turns the display off when it’s covered, ability to set a lock screen background and a few other things. The update size is only 3.2 MB.
