Files by Google gets dark mode in the beta release

One more Google app has got a dark shade of its own. Files by Google, the official file management app of the company, is the latest to receive the treatment of dark mode in a beta release. The release version is beta v1.0.252205711, and it brings an almost finished dark mode to the Files app.

As you can see, the functionality looks “almost” perfect in comparison to some other implementations of dark mode where things looked rough and unpolished (i.e. Google Photos). Here, in this case, almost everything looks perfect, except for a few rough elements here and there. For example, the hamburger menu icon in the top left corner is colored Gray, which is slightly difficult to spot in the black background.

We all know dark mode helps in saving battery life by turning off the individual OLED pixels. In addition to that, it also looks comfortable in darker environments (i.e. at night). If you want to get this version of Files by Google then you can download the beta APK file from APK Mirror. Otherwise, you can wait for a few days until the functionality is rolled out in a stable release if you want to download it from Play Store. In either of these cases, ensure that you’ve some sort of dark mode (either the system-wide dark mode or the dark mode of any other app) enabled on your device for the functionality to work.
