It’s no secret that the biggest benefit of purchasing a Google Pixel is the benefit of timely updates. Google rewards the owners of its premium smartphones with the treat of updates being rolled out before other devices, and the same is happening with June update too. The month has begun, and the rollout of June security update for Pixel smartphones has already started. While Pixel 2, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are receiving their June updates, the recently launched Pixel 3a, and Pixel 3a XL are also receiving their first ever security patch update.
Google Pixel June Security Update – What’s New?
The new updates for Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL include a number of fixes related to Bootloader, Camera app, media playback and “OK Google” hot-word. If your Pixel device used to freeze while playing content from Netflix, you’ll not see that problem again after installing this update. The accuracy of ‘OK Google’ command detection has been improved significantly, and the Camera app crashes while recording videos has also been fixed. On the other hand, Pixel 2 owners who found their devices to be freezing during boot can also take a sigh of relief as this update has got the solution to that problem as well.
Google’s recently launched Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are also receiving their first security updates now. It’s not clear, however, if the random shutdown issue being faced by some users in their new Pixel 3a devices will be fixed with this update or not. If not, then we expect Google to fix it real soon with the upcoming update. The General Security Bulletin of Android shows that there still are a number of critical security patches scheduled to be rolled out later this month, so don’t ignore any of the updates that come your way after installing this update.
